Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (EPPR)

The "Circumpolar Map of Resources at Risk from Oil Spills in the Arctic" is a project of the Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (EPPR)  working group of the Arctic Council. The project was implemented by Akvaplan-niva AS under contract to the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority.

In the Rovaniemi Declaration of the Arctic Council it was agreed to provide a framework for future cooperation in responding to the threat of environmental emergencies. The EPPR Working Group was established as an experts forum to evaluate the adequacy of existing arrangements and to recommend the necessary system of cooperation.
